Cameron's story:

Cameron

1) How did you hear or know about the Actionworks Trust. The service that helped you with finding work and gave career advice.
• I received a call from a staff member of CYTS Contact Centre at home asking if I currently had a job, source of income or any plans for the near future after talking to the staff member and asking which preferred field I would like employment in I was then passed onto Duncan.

2) Can you give us a brief outline of your experience with the Youth Coach you met at Actionworks Trust?
• I worked with Duncan who was understanding of what I wanted to do as a career and helped me get into the field I enjoy.

3) What are you doing now?
• I am working full time for IT Link as technical support assisting people with their technical queries and installing software on handheld devices.

4) What did you like best about the service you’ve recently had with Actionworks?
• How understanding Actionworks was of my age group and the work that was put in by the team at Actionworks to find me a job.

5) What would you recommend to other young people who need help to get into work or find further training?
• Contact Actionworks and speak to a youth coach regarding what the next best step would be for a career in what you enjoy.

6) What’s surprised you the most about transitioning away from school and into your career?
• I was surprised by the amount of trust and responsibility put on my shoulders as I moved into my current job.
